No cable? No problem! Here are 14 must-see shows on streaming in 2024
Since the writers strike and actors strike got resolved, many broadcast shows on cable have quickly gotten back to work to salvage the missed fall 2023 TV schedule and bring back series that didn’t air in the autumn months of this year. Some of the most-anticipated cable shows are Young Sheldon season 7 (the final season), Abbot Elementary, and Grey’s Anatomy season 20. But what about what’s streaming in 2024?
Don’t worry! If you don’t have a cable subscription, there’s plenty of wonderful content on the online world as well. And we have some fun streaming shows coming our way in 2024. I’m personally most excited for the second half of Outlander season 7, as well as the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith Prime Video series starring Donald Glover. He was one of my favorite characters on Community, and I can’t wait to see this new twist on a classic movie. Below, we have a list of both returning and completely new projects we can’t wait to see streaming in 2024:
- Outlander season 7 part 2
- The Couple Next Door
- The Boys season 4
- House of the Dragon season 2
- Bridgerton season 3
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Interview with the Vampire season 2
- Echo (part of the MCU)
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith
- Griselda
- 2024 (Yellowstone spin-off)
- Exploding Kittens
- Ted (prequel series)
- Bel-Air season 3

The must-see streaming shows to add to your watch-list in 2024
Outlander season 7 part 2
Release date: 2024 on Starz
The good news is that we know Outlander season 7 part 2 is completely done filming and ready to go. Because it’s a super-sized season of 16 episodes, Starz decided to split the season in half. That’s why we’re getting the second part, another set of eight episodes, sometime in 2024. Unfortunately, Starz has not shared an exact release date yet. But, the company did confirm part 2 is coming in 2024. Even though Outlander is broadcast on the Starz channel, episodes are released at midnight ET on the Starz app first. So, I’m counting it as a streaming show!
When we left off at the end of the midseason finale, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian finally landed in Scotland and made it back home. We don’t see them on land just yet. They’re on the ship. But we see it in the horizon in the port and I can’t wait to see them home once again! Elsewhere in the “present,” Roger and Buck make their way through the Stones to find Jemmy, who was taken by Rob Cameron. Brianna stays behind with Mandy.
The Couple Next Door
Release date: 2024 on Starz
The Couple Next Door is a new series starring Outlander’s Sam Heughan. The show has already made its debut in the U.K., but Starz has confirmed the drama is coming to the U.S. sometime in 2024 as well. I wonder if the company will wait until Outlander season 7 part 2 comes to an end, so us fans can have something to watch during the Droughtlander.
The psychological drama will have a total of six episodes and is focused on two couples – Evie and Pete and Becka and Danny (Heughan). Evie and Pete move into a high-end neighborhood and feel out of place, but make friends with Becka and Danny. When the two couples start to spend more time together, one night leads them to “become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives forever,” per the synopsis. Intriguing!
The Boys season 4
Release date: 2024 on Prime Video
One series so many of us have definitely been eagerly awaiting is The Boys season 4 on Prime Video! We last saw the vigilante group July 2022 in the season 3 finale. The streamer still hasn’t provided an official release date, though it has been confirmed that it will be streaming in 2024. On Nov. 9, Prime Video shared the news that we’re getting the new season in the new year. So hopefully, the company doesn’t make us wait too long now for the release date.
By the end of season 3, so much happens and we’re left on a cliffhanger! Homelander and Ryan reconcile, Homelander kills Noir, Butcher is sick because of his use of V24, Annie joins the group, and Soldier Boy is in custody. The series will release weekly episodes of its eight-episode season when it premieres.
House of the Dragon season 2
Release date: Summer 2024 on Max
House of the Dragon season 2 will premiere in the summer of 2024 on HBO. The plot and details of the eight-episode season still aren’t known yet, but we can expect to see many new cast members and characters. Check out the official first-look teaser below:
It’s no secret, and really no surprise, that Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon was a smashing success when it premiered in 2022. And of course it definitely was no surprise that we’re getting a second season. I can’t wait! The great news is that we won’t have to wait too long to see the next chapter of the story!
Bridgerton season 3
Release date: Part 1 - May 16, 2024 and Part 2 - June 13, 2024 on Netflix
It's a little disappointing the highly-anticipated third season of Bridgerton will arrive in 2024. Previously, it seemed like a December 2023 release date was leaked by international Netflix accounts and we thought we'd get the period romance then. But unfortunately, we're going to have to wait until the summer of 2024 for season 3 part 1 to come out on May 16, 2024 with the first four episodes of the season, followed by the final four on June 13, 2024. There's a total of eight episodes in season 3.
I am so pumped for Bridgerton season 3! I think Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin's (Luke Newton) love story is going to be the best followed by Daphne and Simon's. There's just so much to it - secrets, a yearning love, a romantic realization, and so much more. I think other than Outlander, Bridgerton season 3 is what I'm most excited about on this list!
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Release date: Feb. 22, 2024 on Netflix
If you think back to Avatar: The Last Airbender animation series, the show certainly had lots of fans! Well, in a time where we bring many animations to life, the 2005 show is getting the live-action adaptation treatment on Netflix. I can tell you this new series, which will be a total of eight episodes, is one of the most highly-anticipated projects coming in 2024 – Feb. 22, 2024 to be exact!
The cast includes Gordon Cormier, Dallas Liu, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim. We provided the official synopsis and teaser video from Netflix below:
"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope."
Interview with the Vampire season 2
Release date: 2024 on AMC+
Interview with the Vampire season 2 doesn’t have an exact release date yet, though the series has been confirmed to come to streaming in 2024 with a total of eight episodes. Based on a teaser, we can expect to see a whole host of vampires of course, as well as the return of Louis and Armands. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter of this story holds!
The cast list includes Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Assad Zaman as Rashid/Armand, Ben Daniels as Santiago, Delainey Hayles as Claudia (recast).
Echo
Release date: Jan. 10, 2024 on Disney+ and Hulu
Marvel fans, rejoice! Echo is another completely new series coming our way, based on the character of the same name from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The new series serves as a spin-off of Hawkeye, and will have a total of five episodes. Get ready for a binge-watch on Jan. 10, 2024! The show will be released on both Disney+ and Hulu on premiere day.
The story follows Maya Lopez who goes back to her hometown as Wilson Fisk’s “criminal empire” pursues her, per the synopsis. Once there, she’ll have to confront her family’s past and legacy, including her Native American roots. The show stars Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, Vincent D’Onofrio, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Graham Greene, Cody Lightning, Charlie Cox, Devery Jacobs, and Zahn McClarnon.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Release date: Feb. 2, 2024 on Prime Video
If you’re looking forward to something with a little more action, then Mr. & Mrs. Smith is definitely the new show to add to your watch-list, coming Feb. 2, 2024. Plus, it’s another binge-watch! All eight episodes will be released on premiere day.
The spy comedy stars Donald Glover, Maya Erskine as Jane Smith, Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, and Paul Dano. We shared the official synopsis below:
"Meet the Smiths: Two strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners — in espionage and in marriage. Matched by a mysterious agency, each episode follows them on a new mission and new milestone in their relationship. When the cracks begin to show through, they must fight to stay together. Because in this marriage, divorce is not an option.
In this version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travels, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?"
Griselda
Release date: Jan. 25, 2024 on Netflix
I love Sofia Vergara! And since Modern Family came to an end in 2024, we haven’t seen the talented star on television screens. Well, that’s about to change early in the new year. Be sure to mark down Jan. 25, 2024 when all six episodes of the actress’ new series, Griselda, debuts!
Vergara stars as Griselda Blanco, a real-life figure in history. She was the creator of one of the “most profitable cartels in history” and nicknamed “the Godmother,” per the synopsis. In the 1970s and ’80s, she was the leading drug lord in cocaine in Miami, Florida. Talk about a very dramatic role! Check out the trailer below:
2024 (Yellowstone spin-off)
Release date: 2024 on Paramount+
The Yellowstone universe just continues to grow, which isn’t a surprise given how popular the franchise and flagship series are. While Yellowstone itself is coming to a close in the new year, we can also expect to see a new spin-off, appropriately titled (for now) 2024. There aren’t many details about the upcoming Western yet, other than that actor Matthew McConaughey will reportedly be the onscreen lead. Even so, anything that comes out of the Taylor Sheridan’s mind is definitely something to be excited for!
Exploding Kittens
Release date: 2024 on Netflix
Netflix has decided to take a different route and expand its adaptations. Exploding Kittens is a popular card game, but the streamer is bringing it to life in the form of an adult animation series! Coming out sometime in 2024, Tom Ellis takes on the lead role of God, switching from devil to the Almighty power – in cat form. Or, God Cat.
When God and the Devil’s conflict reaches a boiling point, the two are sent down to Earth in the bodies of house cats. As the two are now in feline bodies, will they be able to work towards solving their problems?
Ted
Release date: Jan. 11, 2024 on Peacock
If you’re a fan of the Ted movies starring Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett and Seth MacFarlane as the titular character, you’re definitely going to want to check out the Ted prequel series coming to Peacock Jan. 11, 2024! With all seven episodes dropping the same day, MacFarlane reprises his role as Ted the bear to tell the backstory of the comedic movies.
We go back to 1993 when Ted’s “moment of fame has passed,” per the synopsis. He moves back in with the Bennett family and his 16-year-old bestie John Bennett. He might be a “lousy influence” on the teen, but there’s no one else who’ going to be more loyal to John than Ted.
Bel-Air season 3
Release date: 2024 on Peacock
Due to the Hollywood strikes causing production delays, there still isn’t much information we have about Bel-Air season 3. We were expecting the new season in 2023, however it got pushed. Though, we are expecting the drama to make a return in 2024. And we definitely can’t wait!
Other shows expected to come out in 2024 that we’re excited about
Now there’s some projects that haven’t been 100% confirmed to be coming out in 2024 by their respective streamers. However, we think the series’ in the list below are very likely to premiere in the new year. But be sure to bookmark this page as we’ll update it with any news about the following shows once their release dates are confirmed!
- The Old Man season 2 on Hulu
- Only Murders in the Building season 4 on Hulu
- Tell Me Lies season 2 on Hulu
- The Last of Us season 2 on Max
- A Court of Thorns and Roses (a long shot, but fingers crossed!) on Hulu
Though we have The Last of Us season 2 on the list, it seems more likely we’re not getting the new season until 2025. But, we are going to stay optimistic. Lead actress Bella Ramsey said the post-apocalyptic drama wouldn’t be back until the “end of 2024, early 2025,” according to The Independent. I mean, she said the end of 2024. I’m running with it!
Stay tuned to Hidden Remote as we bring you updates about the shows streaming in 2024!
