911 is back for season 8 so here’s a quick recap of what you need to know from season 7!

Last season was a huge change for the series. After six seasons on FOX, the show was unexpectedly canceled, but in the same breath, ABC picked it up. However, production was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes so it was only a ten episode season

It kicked off in wild style with a three-episode arc of Bobby and Athena trying to survive a cruise ship disaster. There were scores of twists and turns across the season with a stunning finale so here’s a quick recap of what to know!

Chimney and Maddie finally got married

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, KENNETH CHOI
9-1-1 - ÒThere Goes the GroomÓ - After years of anticipation, Maddie and ChimneyÕs long-awaited wedding day arrives. However, when the groom mysteriously vanishes, the 118 races against time to ensure he doesnÕt miss the most crucial day of his life. THURSDAY, MAY 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. After years of ups and downs, Chimney and Maddie finally tied the knot. This being 911, the wedding couldn’t be easy as a brain condition caused Chimney to develop amnesia and wander around Los Angeles. Thankfully, the team found him, and while it wasn’t a typical chapel wedding, at least the pair are finally married and ready to start their new life together.

Hen and Karen made an enemy for a big loss

The season premiere had Hen at a traffic accident, focusing on one injured patient and not on a drunk driver who seemed okay. Hen was jarred to learn that the guy later died at the hospital of complications. She and her wife Karen were focused on raising their new foster daughter Mara and working to adopt her.

But then Hen learned the driver’s mother was Councilwoman Olivia Ortiz, who blamed Hen for her son’s death (ignoring her son had refused treatment on the scene). She thus not only blocked the adoption but had Hen and Karen removed as Mara’s foster parents. She also threatened to go after Hen for every bad call she’d made in her career. Thankfully, Maddie and Chimney stepped in by fostering Mara themselves and letting Karen and Hen visit, but it’s likely Ortiz will continue to cause problems for the couple.

Buck came to a new discovery

OLIVER STARK, RYAN GUZMAN
9-1-1 - ÒThere Goes the GroomÓ - After years of anticipation, Maddie and ChimneyÕs long-awaited wedding day arrives. Long known as the ladies’ man of the station, Buck found himself forming a connection he never expected. He and LAFD pilot Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) started hanging out after Tommy helped the team in the cruise ship rescue. It looked like just a friendship until they shared a kiss, making Buck realize he's bisexual.

It’s a big shift for the character, who’s still wrestling with where his heart lies. He and Tommy are trying actual dating, and Buck is coming out more to his friends, and after years of hiding himself, Buck may finally be able to live his real life.

Eddie lost Christopher

RYAN GUZMAN
9-1-1 - ÒGhost of a Second ChanceÓ - Maddie and Athena investigate a case surrounding an abducted mother and child as Hen and Karen learn more about MaraÕs family history. Meanwhile, Eddie grapples with unresolved feelings for someone from his past. THURSDAY, MAY 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Mike Taing) RYAN GUZMAN /

Eddie seemed to be doing well dating Marisol and raising his son Christopher. Then he ran into a woman named Kim who happened to be a dead ringer for Eddie’s lost love (and Christopher’s mom) Shannon (she was even played by Davin Kelly). They kept meeting up with Kim learning about Shannon and dying her hair to look like her.

Eddie made the mistake of sharing an embrace with Kim just as Marisol and Christopher came home. Seeing his dad with a woman looking just like his dead mom was too much for Christopher, so he asked to live with his grandparents in Texas. It looks like it may be a permanent move as Eddie tries to overcome his huge mistake.

Bobby nearly died

9-1-1 - ÒAll Fall DownÓ - Following the devastating fire at the Nash home, BobbyÕs fate remains uncertain, while Athena embarks on a mission to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Hen and Karin engage in a heated custody battle, while Christopher grapples with forgiving Eddie. THURSDAY, MAY 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Mike Taing) PETER KRAUSE /

After surviving so many disasters, Bobby was nearly killed when an arsonist set fire to his and Athena’s house. He suffered a nasty heart attack. Athena suspected it was Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner), who had lost his wife in the fire Bobby accidentally started long ago. In reality, it was a pack of drug dealers going after the pair, with Athena managing to fight them off. Bobby recovered in the hospital and decided he wanted to get back to work. Too bad it won’t be that easy…

Gerard is back

BRIAN THOMPSON, OLIVER STARK, KENNETH CHOI, RYAN GUZMAN, AISHA HINDS
9-1-1 - “Buzzkill” - The 118 team battles an “un-bee-lievable” emergency when a trailer with millions of bees crashes on the streets of Los Angeles, unleashing a swarm. THURSDAY, SEPT. 26 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Christopher Willard) BRIAN THOMPSON, OLIVER STARK, KENNETH CHOI, RYAN GUZMAN, AISHA HINDS /

Before that fire, Bobby, feeling he’d done all he could as a fireman, had decided to resign, not telling anyone aside from Athena. When he came back to the 118, the crew expected him back, unaware Bobby had quit and the paperwork already finished. And his replacement? None other than Gerrard (Brian Thompson), the bigoted, arrogant, bullying boss who had made Hen and Chim’s lives miserable long ago.

So, season 8 has the team dealing with Gerrard, Bobby trying to get his job back, and the rest of the gang handling some major life changes. Mix them in with the usual crazy disasters the 118 gets into and 911 is back on track for another exciting year.

911 season 8 premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8/7c on ABC.
