Past Lives is streaming! Here's how to watch the movie
Any time a new movie debuts in theaters that's interesting, we're always on pins and needles waiting for it to come to streaming. Whether you're waiting to see the film for the first time at home or want to check it out once again, it's the best when productions are made available to watch online. The latest one added to streaming that we're excited about is Past Lives!
Watch the Greta Lee and Teo Yoo movie on Paramount+
Past Lives is now streaming, and you can watch the Oscar-nominated romantic drama on Paramount+ now! The movie made its streaming debut on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024. While the streamer does offer a "with ads" (Paramount+ Essential) and "no ads" option (Paramount+ with Showtime), unfortunately the film is only available through the slightly pricier "no ads" option." So, Past Lives is available to stream on Paramount+ with Showtime only. This plan costs $11.99/month vs. the Essential one which is $5.99/month.
How to sign up for Paramount+
- Visit the Paramount+ sign up page
- Choose either the Paramount+ Essential or Paramount+ with Showtime plan
- Create an account
- Enter payment information
- Login to start streaming!
While streaming is usually a convenient option, sometimes some of us don't want to commit to a platform for just one film or series. If that's the case for you, there's also plenty of rent and purchase options available for Past Lives as well. We shared them below:
- Prime Video - rent for $5.99 or buy for $19.99
- Google Play - rent for $4.99 or buy for $19.99
- Apple TV - rent for $5.99 or buy for $19.99
- YouTube - rent between $4.99 and $7.99 or buy for $19.99
- Vudu - rent for $4.99 or buy for $19.99
Why isn't Past Lives streaming on Max?
Initially, we thought the romantic drama was going to stream on Max. That's because its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery and A24, the movie's production company, have signed a new deal. Max is going to be the exclusive streaming home to A24 titles. Those include Priscilla, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Whale, and more.
So it's a bit confusing why Past Lives is streaming on Paramount+ first. There must be an existing deal between Paramount and A24 that gives the streamer the rights to add the film to its catalog first. But, ABC News does share that Past Lives will be streaming on Max eventually. This does happen sometimes when two platforms end up having to "share" a project.
Look at the Harry Potter movies. For a long time, they kept switching between Peacock and Max. The films would be added to one streamer for a little bit, then switch to the other, then go back to the first. Now, the movies are streaming on both platforms. But for a while, it was confusing for fans. So, don't worry. If you have Max and hope to watch Past Lives on the streaming service, it will be added at some point. Right now we don't have the streaming date on Max yet, but we'll be sure to keep you updated! So you're prepared for when the time comes, we shared how to sign up for the platform below.
How to sign up for Max
- Visit the Max sign up page
- Select With Ads ($9.99/month), Ad-Free ($15.99/month), or Ultimate Ad-Free (19.99/month)
- Create an account by entering a username and password
- Enter your chosen payment method
- Login to start watching!
