In Season 2 of ‘This Is Us,’ the Pearsons are closing out the Super Bowl and getting extra festive for Christmas. Here’s what we want to see from both special episodes.

More from This Is Us

Back when NBC announced their fall schedule, the network tricked us into thinking This Is Us was on the move to Thursdays. But not so fast. Because of the interruptions the NFL would impose on our beloved Pearsons on Thursday nights, NBC gracefully moved the series back to its home on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Phew! Coincidentally, This Is Us also received the primo post-Super Bowl timeslot. You win some, you win some.

On top of airing an episode after the Super Bowl (airing Sunday, February 4, 2018 on NBC), This Is Us will also boost its holiday celebrations with a special Christmas episode, according to Variety. Booking special event episodes is major for the breakout hit, as both outings will only attract more eyeballs and raise its profile. Everything’s coming up Pearson in Season 2, and This Is Us fans have a ton of tears to look forward to. Since we know that the Pearsons live and breathe Steelers football and that nothing bad ever happens on Christmas Eve, these pair of This Is Us episodes are the ones to watch out for. Here’s what we hope to see from each hour!

A football tie-in.

Obviously, it goes without saying that This Is Us should tie football into their post-Super Bowl episode in some way, shape, or form. Now, we can’t guarantee that the Pearson family’s Steelers will make it to the Super Bowl in 2018 (wouldn’t it be spooky if they did?), but their presence on the field doesn’t matter. There are plenty more Steelers-oriented stories to tell with the Pearsons, and we’re confident the writing team will whip up something winning.

Fewer tears under the tree.

Is that so much to ask? Last Christmas, the Pearsons could barely enjoy each other’s company with all of the feels flowing in their direction. Randall talked a co-worker down from a suicide attempt, Kate and Rebecca contended with their strained relationship, and Toby almost died. It wasn’t really a wonderful Christmastime. While we don’t expect the tears to totally dry up by December (this is This Is Us after all), our Christmas wish is a few happier holiday memories.

Huge twists and revelations.

This Is Us has become known for its winding and unexpected timeline. Episode by episode, we’re given another piece of the puzzle, but we haven’t be able to put it together quite yet. The series has been granted an amazing opportunity with these two event episodes, and we want to see it show new fans what they’re made of. Drop those bombs, take those twists, propose new questions. Do your absolute twisty worst, This Is Us!
