Have some theories about Jack’s death on ‘This Is Us’? Well, Milo Ventimiglia and Justin Hartley have squashed them all.

More from This Is Us

From the millisecond This Is Us fans sniffed out the truth about Jack Pearson’s mortality, it’s been a non-stop guessing game. How does he die? When does he die? Is someone responsible for his death? Was it Miguel? Time and time again, Jack’s portrayer Milo Ventimiglia has insisted to focus on how Papa Pearson lived. Now, he’s officially disproving your theories.

Milo Ventimiglia and Justin Hartley sat down with TV Guide to chat about the upcoming second season of This Is Us, and of course, the subject of Jack’s death came up. After all, it’s the central question on everyone’s mind leading into September’s premiere of Season 2, which will undoubtedly let us in on the secrets swirling around the subject of Jack’s ultimate demise. While they weren’t about to spill any spoilers, they did address a number of the popular fan theories surrounding the big plot twist head on. Watch out, your theory was just debunked.

Ventimiglia reiterates that we should focus on how Jack lived while he was alive, but what’s the fun in that when you’re trying to beat This Is Us to the punch? He doesn’t have a favorite theory (how morbid would that be?), but he does mention that he finds it funny when people try to implicate Miguel as the reason behind Jack being deceased.

Meanwhile, Justin Hartley notes that he has heard several bonkers fan theories, including Jack faking his death with Rebecca in on the ruse. Hartley also introduced our new No. 1 theory: Jack is an alien. Hey, that explains Randall’s hallucination, right? But Hartley also shared that he hasn’t heard a correct fan theory yet. Translation: We’re all wrong.
