This Is Us season 2: Sylvester Stallone shares on-set photos with the cast

Sylvester Stallone kicks off his guest starring role in Season 2 of This Is Us with behind the scenes shots with Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley!

In case you missed the breaking news out of This Is Us Season 2, the blockbuster drama series will welcome Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, for a guest starring role. Clearly, things are getting bigger and better in the second season, and all roads point to even more crying. Thanks to Milo Ventimiglia’s connections with the action-star legend, Stallone will join the Pearson clan as himself in a pivotal role.

This Is Us brings Stallone in for Season 2 as Kevin’s co-star in the Ron Howard war film Kevin temporarily leaves Sophie for in the Season 1 finale. As recently hinted at by the powers that be (and Milo Ventimiglia), Stallone’s guest turn could tie in with Kevin’s emotional journey with Jack’s death. Assuming Jack enjoyed the work of Sylvester Stallone and shared that affinity for Rocky with his sons, Kevin will look to the Academy Award nominee as a mentor and potential father figure. But before we bawl our eyes out over Stallone’s work with Kevin, he’s giving fans a behind the scenes look at his time on set with the cast!

Sylvester Stallone posted a photo with Milo Ventimiglia, who played his son in 2006’s Rocky Balboa, posing beside a motorcycle on set. He captioned the picture with a kind sentiment: “My good buddy Milo Ventimiglia who was nice enough to invite me to be on the show.” Just one more layer of father and son added to This Is Us.

Although Chrissy Metz’s Kate probably won’t have scenes with Sly, that didn’t stop the pair from having a little on-set fun between scenes. “Getting punched out by the amazing @chrissymetz on the set of This Is Us,” Stallone wrote of the playful snap. Hey, it’s not everyday you have an action star on set. You show him who’s boss, Chrissy!

Finally, Stallone shared the selfie we have been waiting for, alongside his scene partner Justin Hartley. On the set of their movie-within-a-show, Hartley appears dirtied from a hard day’s work as Kevin’s on-screen soldier. Sly praises Hartley, and we all know it to be true: “On the This Is Us set with Justin Hartley, this is a fantastic show and he is great to work with!”
