Wayward Sisters is the highly anticipated spin-off to Supernatural and is similar in more ways than just the same universe.

Many Supernatural fans are looking forward to the spin-off, Wayward Sisters. It’s the chance to put six women in the limelight; focusing on how women can be strong and save the world. Being set in the same universe is just the initial similarity between the two shows. The spin-off actually already shows signs of being extremely similar to early Supernatural.

Not sure you’re going to like it? Here are how the characters and settings will remind you of the earlier seasons of your favorite show.

More from Supernatural

Claire is strong-willed hunter, just like Dean

Remember the early years when Dean just wanted to be a hunter. While he and Sam searched for John, Dean’s focus was saving as many innocent people as he could. Supernatural Season 2 reminded fans just how important saving people was to him, as he chose to leave the wish world and return to a place without either of his parents.

Claire is very similar to this strong-willed, early Dean. All she wants is to be a hunter; to save people from the monsters and ghosts in the world.

Claire’s return will be like Sam’s

"“Dad’s on a hunter trip and hasn’t been home in a few days.”"

This was the line that really officially started the series. It’s the one that fans remember from the pilot without question and iconic for the future. This is a line that’s so popular that many fans would like to see Jody call Claire in the Wayward Sisters backdoor pilot saying “the Winchesters are on a hunting trip and haven’t been home in a few days.” Chills down the spine anyone?

Claire will return home for the Wayward backdoor pilot all because Sam and Dean need saving. They are family and she’s needed for this. She’ll be worried about him, reminding many fans of an early Sam.

Alex and Jody keep fans grounded, just like Sam

Another reminded of early Sam will be Jody and Alex. Both have part-time hunter lives, but put more of the focus on their normal lives. They have jobs, go to school and have a social life outside of the supernatural world. This is everything Sam tried to keep in the earlier years. When Azazel was killed, all Sam dreamed of doing was returning to his normal, apple pie life.

Fans got the reminder of the normal world. They got the reminder that the Winchesters nearly didn’t become the hunters they were; that Mary wanted something completely different for them. Fans will get that reminder with Alex and Jody in Wayward.

Donna becomes the support system, just like Bobby

It’s not only the Winchesters that you’ll get some reminders of. There’s Bobby. Donna will be the fun aunt and support system. Fans aren’t sure just how she’ll end up in Sioux Falls, but there’s no need to contemplate on that too much.

Donna is one of the least experienced in the supernatural world. She was only opened to it in her second appearance, but seems to have quickly gained a love for saving people and is friends with Jody. It will be all hands on deck and Donna seems to have no qualms about jump in when necessary, just like Bobby.

Patience has the psychic abilities, just like Sam

Want another reminder of the Winchesters from Season 1? Look no further than Patience. She’s a psychic, seeing visions of death and destruction. Remind you of a particular Winchester? Yes, this was just like Sam in the first two seasons. In fact, his visions helped the Winchesters save a few people along the way.

Patience will bring that reminder of going where the visions tell you. It will be a reminder that powers can be a good thing.

And then we can’t forget her smarts. Patience is in AP classes and was on track for a 4.0 GPA before leaving her old life behind. She’ll be the one that reminds fans of Smart!Sam throughout the series.

Kaia doesn’t trust, just like Dean

As much as she would probably hate to admit this right now, Kaia is a lot like early Dean. She struggles to trust people. She’ll form a bond with Claire, but it looks like she might struggle with the others. This screams early Dean. He often found it harder to trust the newer people, forming the bond with a few close people now and then.

Dean still has this personality. Kaia may be the thing that continues to remind fans of their favorite show.

There’s the focus on family

Just in case you need the reminder, Wayward Sisters is all about family. Not just blood family, but the people you choose to be part of your family. Jody has a rule of the door always being open, both to new and returning girls in her life.

This whole focus will be a constant reminder of early Supernatural and beyond. It will link back to Bobby and how his door was always open for the Winchesters. This will link back to how Charlie, Kevin, Ellen, Jo and so many more became integral parts of the brothers’ lives. Hopefully there will be a little less death of family members in Wayward!
