Supernatural Season 13: Could Donatello ever come back possessed?
Donatello the Ninja Prophet may currently be brain dead on Supernatural Season 13, but is this really the last we’ve seen of him?
There are so many possibilities on Supernatural. Dead doesn’t always mean dead and there’s nothing stopping a brain-dead patient coming back. After all, Ruby’s second permanent vessel was a coma patient who was declared brain dead. When Donatello was corrupted by the Demon Tablet, Castiel did the only thing he could to keep everyone safe and get the information they all needed. But does this mean Donatello is gone for good?
A demon could possess him
There’s nothing stopping a demon from possessing the body of the prophet and taking over him. Sam, Dean, and Castiel never mentioned anything about warding him from supernatural beings, suggesting that he’s out in the open just waiting for a demon to jump into him.

There’s nothing in the prophet lore to say that a demon can’t possess a prophet, but it never seems to have happened. Prophets always had an archangel to watch over them to protect them from danger, which suggests they can be possessed.
Possessing Donatello would be dangerous for the Winchesters. It’s possible that the demon could get remnants of information left behind from the extraction Castiel did. This would give Hell the ability to open the rift, which would certainly help with Asmodeous’ wishes.

Could angels heal him?
Another theory is that an angel could possess his body. Angels need the permission of a vessel first. This is possible while someone is unconscious, which Dean once did to get Sam to allow Gadreel to heal him from the inside.
The only issue with this Supernatural Season 13 theory is that Donatello is brain dead. There’s supposedly nothing inside. He doesn’t have the subconscious to say yes or no to an angel.
If anyone wanted to get the information, it would be up to a demon to do it. That’s if there is any information left. Lucifer may want information to stop the rift to the other world opening, which could mean getting his own demon lackeys to possess Donatello, extract information, and prevent Michael ever getting into this world.
