The Supernatural panel at PaleyFest 2018 was awesome, but it missed an important topic: Wayward Sisters. Should we take this as a bad sign? Probably not!

There’s currently a lot of hype online about the Supernatural spin-off, Wayward Sisters. This isn’t surprising, especially with the current #MeToo and #TimesUp campaigns doing the rounds. However, the spin-off barely got a mention at the PaleyFest 2018 Supernatural panel, and the only mention it did get was in passing.

Is this a bad thing for the spin-off? Well, not necessarily.

It was the Supernatural panel

The main thing to remember about PaleyFest 2018 is that it was a panel about Supernatural. While Wayward Sisters is a spin-off, it’s not about the Winchester brothers. This panel was all about the upcoming episode “Scoobynatural” and the current Season 13 storylines.

More from Supernatural

In fact, there was nobody at all from Wayward on the panel. All the cast and crew were linked to the current season of SPN. Many of the questions were about Jack’s arrival, Misha’s role as the Cosmic Entity, and even the Apocalypse World.

There wasn’t a mention of Season 14 either

PaleyFest 2018 seemed like the best moment to announce that Supernatural Season 14 was definitely going to happen. Yet, that never came up. Showrunner Robert Singer mentioned talks of the future–hinting that it is going to happen–but never said outright that we were definitely getting a Season 14.

If we didn’t get that, why should we get an announcement that Wayward Sisters is being picked up? This is something the network will want to announce first, and it will likely come with the announcement of a renewal for the parent show.

There’s no need to worry about Wayward Sisters

Unlike Bloodlines, the Supernatural spin-off has plenty of potential. There is a fanbase for it. Sure, not everyone wants to watch, but there are plenty of others who do. Twitter was alight on the night of the backdoor pilot and the ratings were among the highest seen for the season. These facts tell The CW the spin-off is wanted.

There’s no need to worry about Wayward Sisters because of this. PaleyFest 2018 wasn’t about the spin-off, so not mentioning it wasn’t a bad thing; it just kept the conversation on the reason for the panel.
