Ah, the good old days of The Walking Dead! We’re taking a trip down memory lane to remember some of the best episodes.

There used to be a time Team Family was a united front. And even when they all didn’t exactly agree, everyone was fine following the rules of Ricktatorship. There was also a time when walkers were the main focus, the biggest threat Rick and the others faced. And who could forget Spaghetti Sundays!

More from AMC

After Glenn disappeared behind (under?) the dumpster, though, The Walking Dead’s ratings took a nosedive. Slowly, at first, but as events became more and more frustrating, fans began to tune out the show. The Season 8 finale is the second-last watched finale ever in the series.

According to Nielsen ratings, “around 7.9 million viewers watched the AMC zombie drama the night it aired.” That number is still massive, but significantly less than those who caught the Season 2 finale (March 2012) live — one million less, to be exact.

It’s important to note that the 7.9 million is only for live views and does not include audiences who tuned in later that night or checked out the episode the following day. Still, there’s no denying that over one million people no longer care to watch the show live.

Now, whether or not you still watch The Walking Dead every Sunday live or you catch it another day, you know there haven’t been any episodes lately that top episodes from previous seasons. Hardcore TWD fans will defend the show to no end, but millions of fans didn’t stop watching for no reason!

Let’s look back at five of the best episodes…
