Supernatural Season 14 poster tells us one thing about Castiel

If you’re worried about Castiel in the Supernatural Season 13 finale, you can stop right now. The promo poster for the 14th season tells us one clear thing about the character: he’s alive.

After the Supernatural Season 12 finale, fans understandably worry about their favorites this year. One of those favorites is Castiel. In the 12th season finale, he was killed off with an angel blade to the back by Lucifer. While he did come back that doesn’t stop fans from worrying again. However, the Supernatural Season 14 tells us all we need to know.

Recently, Misha Collins confirmed that while his contract with the show hadn’t been finalized for the 14th season yet, the Supernatural Season 13 finale was set up with the intention of Castiel sticking around. That episode airs tonight.

And just in case you missed Collins’ tweet, The CW has released the promo poster for the upcoming season in the fall. Yes, ahead of the finale tonight, which means there are technically spoilers. But I’d class this as a good spoiler.

The poster literally just tells us that Dean, Sam, and Castiel will be back for Supernatural Season 14. There is some smoke around their faces and there’s a blue tinge, but those elements don’t tell us much. I wonder if they’re linked to spirits and Heaven potentially crumbling as part of the Supernatural Season 13 finale cliffhanger.

Until we see what tonight brings and how it links to the poster for Season 14, we can just take away one good piece of news: Castiel is going to be in the 14th season. While Collins’ contract hasn’t yet been finalized, it looks like talks are good. We’ll probably see him as a series regular but with the reduced capacity has he has been for the last few years.

Even if Castiel does die in the finale, that death isn’t likely to stick. However, I’m not sure if the writers will do that again, because it might not have the same effect.
