The NCIS Season 15 finale has aired. For those wondering about Jack Sloane’s backstory all season, we finally got it. But would it end with a happy ending? Would she get her revenge?

There were two stories going on throughout the NCIS Season 15 finale. One of those was all connected to Jack Sloane, while the other was mostly to give McGee, Torres, and Bishop something to do throughout the episode. Well, that’s the way it seems. All fan focus was definitely on Jack’s backstory and whether she had the right man.

Here’s the NCIS recap, sharing the highs and the lows, along with that epic cliffhanger that has us all on edge throughout the summer. Did you think of anything other than a cliffhanger for NCIS?

The bomb on the boat

More from CBS

To give the team something to do, their story focused on a bomb on a boat. NCIS is called out after there’s a warning on a mirror to say that there’s a bomb somewhere on the boat and it leads to a search for said bomb. Only there isn’t actually a bomb on there. It was all a ploy to prevent the boat from deploying. Someone didn’t want to leave.

Who was it? Well, after going through the crew, it turns out that it was none of them. Casey comes in with some DNA from the soap used to leave the note. It must have been a new bar of soap, as the DNA was a 50% match to the commander (who happened to have served under McGee’s father). The commander’s own son left the empty threat because he didn’t want his dad to leave before his graduation.

Being a military brat is hard, but McGee makes it clear that the commander wouldn’t have actually wanted to go. The timing was just off.

Jack meets her torturer

While all that happened, all fans eyes were on Jack in the NCIS Season15 finale. While on a blind date (no, it’s not the date who was her torturer), she hears her former torturer in the bar. This is where Maria Bello instantly knocked everyone else out the park. As soon as she heard her torturer’s voice, her whole demenor changed. She went from a confident woman to a scared girl within seconds. And rightfully so.

After attacking the man in the bar and him getting away, Jack is arrested. Of course, Director Vance is called for her. This whole situation starts with him not really believing anything she has to say. After all, her torturer was killed during a drone strike. Or was he?

Now that Jack is sure her torturer is still alive, she knows she can’t sleep. While Vance may not 100% believe her, he does get McGee on the case to find out who this guy is. Casey runs footage from the bar’s CCTV footage and they get a match to a man with diplomatic immunity because he works with the British Embassy. But all Jack wants is to hear his voice to definitely determine if she has the right guy.

When they meet, she knows that it’s him. Even his cologne and the look in his eyes tells her that this is the right guy. Vance continues not to believe her, since this guy does humanitarian work. He can’t be her torturer.

Gibbs offers advice and support

When Gibbs sees the CCTV footage in what used to be Abby’s lab, he wants to know what it’s all about. He decides to turn to Jack, who finally opens up to him about everything that happened. Throughout the episode we got a series of flashes of the horrific events that happened, but Jack telling the story sends even more shivers down the spine. She wasn’t just beaten. She had to choose which of her colleagues–her friends–would be killed next. The torturer chose her because she was a woman and more likely the one to break.

Knowing she wants revenge, Gibbs asks if this is really going to help. She’s sure it will, but Gibbs tells her something he’s not told anybody: he got revenge on his wife and daughter’s murders and it hasn’t helped deep down. However, it’s clear that he definitely believes that Jack is telling the truth and this guy is the one who did all this to her. That leads him back to Vance.

Vance is finally starting to get on board. Nobody ever ran DNA runs when saving Jack all those years ago, so there’s nothing to run again. There was another guy found, though. Unfortunately, he’s in a veteran hospital due to PTSD and early onset Alzheimer’s, which is horrific just thinking about it. The two go to visit the man and when Vance plays a recording of the torturer’s voice, the vet instantly cowers and screams. This is definitely their guy!

Now it’s just finding him. He got spooked and headed back to London. And now Jack is also missing. It’s finally all hands on deck at NCIS to find Jack. She’d got the information for the plane her torturer was getting so headed straight to the airfield. Gibbs is able to catch up with her, where he tells her that he isn’t there to stop her getting her revenge; he knows from experience that it won’t help. He just wants to support her.

However, Jack isn’t about to get her revenge. Her torturer had booked two flights and got on the second one they had no idea about. And this is your cliffhanger. The guy is already in the air with a prisoner…

He has VANCE!!!
