Supernatural Season 14 theories: Could Baby help bring Dean back?

Way back in Supernatural Season 5, Baby helped to save Sam after being controlled by Lucifer. Could the same happen for Dean in Supernatural Season 14?

There are already many questions about Supernatural Season 14 and the Season 13 finale was only a few weeks ago. One of the big questions surrounds saving Dean from Michael. Michael, expectedly, never met his side of the deal and took over Dean’s body. Now the question is what this means for Dean and how will Sam, Jack, and Cass get Dean back.

One of the Supernatural Season 14 theories circling around is that Baby could help save the elder Winchester brother. After all, it worked for Sam, right?

Baby holds more memories for Dean than Sam

This theory certainly holds some weight. Baby is precious to Dean. In fact, you knew Dean was evil as Deanmon when he referred to Baby as “just a car.” The real Dean would never think that and it certainly set off alarm bells for Sam.

In Supernatural Season 5, it was Baby that helped to save Sam. Memories of stuffing green Army figures in the ashtray and scoring initials in the leather (bet John loved that!) led to Sam being able to overpower the Devil long enough to open the door to the cage.

There would be far more memories for Dean in Baby. He’d slept in the car multiple times when road-tripping. She was his home. When he felt like everyone else had abandoned him, Baby was there. When she was written off in car accidents, he built her back up, trashed her in his grief, and then built her back up again.

It’s certainly possible that Baby could be the one to encourage Dean to come out from wherever Michael has placed him in his head.

But Deanmon didn’t care

Remember I mentioned Deanmon? Not caring about Baby was the moment we knew it wouldn’t be easy to save. However, there’s a huge difference between Deanmon and Michael!Dean.

Deanmon was Dean. This wasn’t a demon taking over Dean’s body. This was Dean as a demon; a pure-blooded demon instead of a possession. He’d lost his humanity and seeing a car, even Baby, wasn’t going to bring him back. This was a sign that we’d potentially lost him to the dark side.

With Michael!Dean, our own Dean is in there somewhere. He needs something to bring him to the surface.
