Jensen Ackles sat down with the press at SDCC 2018 to share what’s in store for Dean (or more like Michael) in Supernatural Season 14.

Jensen Ackles is getting the chance to play someone other than Dean. He’s stepped into the shoes of the archangel Michael and is already rocking it if the sneak peek is anything to judge. During a roundtable interview at SDCC, Jensen shared what it was like working with a new stunt coordinator, to learn Arabic, and so much more.

Yes, you read that right. Jensen had to learn Arabic and not just any Arabic. Some of this was shared in the sneak peek. The writers decided to have Michael say a few verses from the Quran, which put a lot of pressure on the actor. Not only was he learning a new language but there was no room for error.

That’s not the big talking point in the interview, though. It’s all about the fight scenes. Michael isn’t going to be getting his hands dirty in Supernatural Season 14. There’s no need to, especially after what we’ve seen with Christian Keyes in the role. Michael!Dean will have a lot of stunt work but not lift a finger, and that’s going to be exciting and cool to see play out.

We’re so used to seeing Dean on screen and Jensen is so used to playing him that things are going to be very different going into the new season. During the interview, the actor shares his checklist of what he runs through–not before filming but during it. This is an ongoing process, as he tries to stay in this very new and dangerous characters.

He then moves on to discuss what’s to come. Just what is Michael’s agenda? What does he want now that he’s in this new world?
