We know Dean isn’t going to be in some episodes of Supernatural Season 14. The good news is that he won’t be gone for long.

Supernatural Season 14 is going to be very different. For the first time ever, some episodes are going to be without one-half of the Winchester brothers. While Jensen Ackles will be on our screen, he is not Dean Winchester. The good news is that won’t happen for long.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ackles shared that Dean wouldn’t be gone for too long. However, Michael is running the show for now and it sounds like after Dean gets control of his body again, Michael is still going to be around, causing trouble.

This isn’t too surprising. Michael won’t want to head back to the Apocalypse World. That attempt to purify the Earth didn’t exactly work out the best way possible. Most of the land was desolate and damaged. Michael won’t want to go back to that when he has a second chance to make this one his paradise.

Once Dean is saved, there is the chance that Michael will jump into his former vessel or even into another one to continue his plan. That would allow Dean to be back but keep Michael around for a little while longer. Considering the amount of time Lucifer was around, Michael needs that same treatment.

Now the big question is what Ackles means by Dean not being “gone for long.” How exactly is long? Previously, Ackles had said that Michael!Dean will be around for longer than the audience expects, which suggested longer than the three episodes Deanmon was around back in Supernatural Season 10.

Eugenie Ross-Leming previously hinted that Dean was going to be possessed for six episodes. That’s not too long and it would be before the midseason break. It would be a good amount of time to utilize Michael!Dean. Of course, we could see Dean inside his own head or even see Dean have flashbacks instead.

We’ll have to wait another week to find out.
