Monday TV ratings: The Bachelor up, Magnum P.I., Arrow, and more down [Mar. 4]
Mar. 4 ratings are in and they’re not too hot. As The Bachelor ticks closer to the finale, the ratings went up. However, Magnum P.I., Arrow, and more were down in the Monday TV ratings. Here’s a look at the details.
ABC had the best night of the lot with The Bachelor‘s penultimate episode of the season and The Good Doctor. Most other shows saw a downward tick in the ratings. Here’s a look at the Monday TV ratings for Mar. 4.
The Bachelor was second in the night for both the demo and total audience, up 11% and 7% respectively. This isn’t all that surprising considering it was the penultimate episode of the season. There are high chances that the show will see more people tune in next week to find out the winner.

- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
The only other show to see an upward tick in the demo was FOX’s The Resident, which was up by 5% and steady in the total audience. The green did hold for The Passage for the first time, with the demo remaining steady and audience ticking up as fans get ready for next week’s two-hour finale.
Except for The Good Doctor remaining steady in the demo and seeing a 5% increase in the total audience and The Voice getting a less-than-1% increase in the total audience at 8 p.m., the rest of the Monday TV ratings were down. Some much larger than others.
Fortunately for The CW fans, Arrow and Black Lightning‘s decreases aren’t all that concerning. Both shows have been renewed for new seasons. However, the ratings were down by 40%/17% (Arrow) and 31%/17% (Black Lightning) in the demo and audience respectively. Arrow is at an all-time low in the demo with a 0.2 rating and under the million for the first time this season, while Black Lightning is at an all-time low for both metrics.
The weren’t the only shows to see a sharp decrease in the ratings on Mar. 5. Magnum P.I. and Man with a Plan both saw decreases in the demo ratings by 30% each and total audience decreases in the mid-teens.
The Enemy Within may be the most worrying of all. It’s second episode saw a 25% decrease in the demo and 6% decrease in the audience. Considering it was the second episode, a decrease isn’t always too concerning, especially the small one in the audience. The demo is a little larger than I’d like but there’s time. We need a couple more episodes to see if the views can stabilize.
The good thing about the show is that it remains above some of the shows already renewed for the 2019-2020 season, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Superstore. The ratings are also on par with the finale of Manifest, which is good for a show that premiered midseason. Midseason shows traditionally perform worse than fall premiere shows.
