A new set and stage awaited American Idol hopefuls as the season’s Top 26 made their way back to Hollywood to learn whether they’re staying in the ABC competition series, or if it’s time to say goodbye. Who made it into the Top 20 and who went home?

Each and every contestant who performed in Hawaii last week is talented and deserves a spot on the show. But unfortunately, there can only be one winner. And it’s our votes at home from the week before that determined who continued on in the singing competition tonight, April 23, 2023.

So who are the six people whose journey ended? Who still has a shot? We’ve got the full list for you below! But first, here’s a photo of the Top 20.

The new episode of American Idol tonight was three hours long! During the episode, we were treated with performances by 2022 winner Noah Thompson and runner-up HunterGirl. Here is this season’s Top 20:

Tomorrow night on April 24 starting at 8 p.m. ET, the Top 20 will take to the stage and perform live in the hopes of earning our votes. 10 hopefuls will be put through based on votes at home, while two other contestants will be chosen by judges Lionel Richie, Luke Perry, and Katy Perry to round out the Top 12 during the two-hour episode. That means between just two nights, we’re going to say goodbye to a total of 14 contestants. The waterworks have already begun!

American Idol airs new episodes Sunday and Monday nights on ABC.
