Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, and Justin Hartley sat down with Deadline at SXSW to talk the This Is Us season finale, and it was very informational.

With the highly anticipated Season 2 finale of This Is Us rapidly approaching liftoff, the cast of the series has been making the promotional rounds. Of course, they can never give any major spoilers away, but from their tiny morsels of teases, you can parse key details. Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, and Justin Hartley attended SXSW 2018 in Austin, Texas and shared interesting tidbits you won’t want to miss.

Speaking with Deadline, the trio touched on all of the topics looming large over the minds of fans. From Kevin’s love life to those pesky cliffhangers waiting to wring our tear ducts dry, nothing was off limits when it came to the This Is Us season finale — except for everything that happens in the hush-hush hour. But what did we learn from the stars during their SXSW interview? Here are four things to know going into the big season-ender!

1. Milo’s facial hair isn’t a tell (at the moment).

Don’t read too far into Milo Ventimiglia’s facial hair. The actor eases fans’ investigative efforts to figure out what Jack’s up to based on his face by dispelling the rumors at SXSW. Milo says his current facial hair situation is nothing more than a case of hiatus beard and nothing more. But once This Is Us starts filming Season 3 this summer, the investigation is back on!

2. Developments in Kevin’s love life are forthcoming.

Justin Hartley tells Deadline at SXSW that with Kevin’s professional life on the up and up and his personal well-being under control thanks to new tools, Kevin’s love life might get a long overdue lift. All three actors tease that the season finale will contain “new developments” for Kevin, and our wheels are spinning. Will Sophie come back for Kate’s wedding and rekindle the flame?

3. Mandy still wants to duet with Chrissy.

In short, so do we, Mandy. Before the Season 2 premiere, Mandy Moore expressed her desire to sing in an episode with her on-screen daughter Chrissy Metz, but the magical musical moment never materialized. But Mandy’s still holding onto hope that their mother-daughter duet will happen, and it must. Can you imagine how beautiful their voices would be together? Game over!

4. Expect unforeseen cliffhangers.

Not that This Is Us fans weren’t already sitting on pins and needles waiting for the other shoe to drop in the Season 2 finale, but the cast confirmed that there’s a twist on the horizon. Milo and Justin danced around the topic of a cliffhanger, but Mandy gave us the biggest clue yet: The season finale features “cliffhangers you wouldn’t see coming” from “characters you wouldn’t see coming.” Consider us on edge.
