'This Is Us' Season 2: Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz might sing together

For longtime fans of Mandy Moore’s music, the most glorious aspect of This Is Us has to be getting to see the singer show off her pipes. Rebecca Pearson, the full-time mama, part-time chanteuse, hits us with those silky smooth vocals, even singing a song Mandy herself recorded back in 2003. It’s the little things that make the crying worth it.

In Season 2 of This Is Us, we can expect more music from the Pearson women, as Kate follows in her mother’s footsteps and embarks on a singing career. But will the mother and daughter duo be singing together? Will Rebecca come out of supposed retirement and hop on stage with Kate for a performance that will 100% inspire the waterworks? When Entertainment Tonight caught up with Mandy Moore on the red carpet at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the star played coy on the subject of singing with Chrissy Metz — but we’re taking it as a definite possibility.

“There may be some singing coming up, I’m just saying,” Moore tells Entertainment Tonight in the video below. She continues with a statement that all but contains a suspiciously suggestive wink and nod: “I don’t know if it’ll be us together or us by ourselves. Might be happening.”

Might. Be. Happening.

Behind that sneaky tease, Moore knows for sure whether she will be singing with her television daughter, and we couldn’t be more eager to watch what the future holds for the Pearsons in music. Of course, Mandy Moore could be fueling the fires to keep us guessing, but now Rebecca and Kate singing together is at the top of our wishlist.

As Kate sets out to become a singer, Rebecca could act as a mentor. Clearly, Rebecca will be stepping up as a mentor for Randall as he and Beth mull over adopting a child. And since Moore shared with Entertainment Tonight that Season 2 features a “fair amount of present-day Rebecca,” This Is Us will be exploring her individual relationships with the Big Three.

We’d like to watch Jack and Rebecca’s courtship as much as Mandy Moore does, but we can’t shake the heartwarming image of Moore and Metz singing together as mother and daughter out of our heads. Are you excited for this potential collaboration? Let us know in the comments!
