Supernatural Season 13 may have only finished last month, but we’re already looking ahead at the new season. Here are the 14 burning questions we have about Supernatural Season 14.

It’s not even been three weeks since we watched the epic Season 13 finale and we’re already looking ahead. There are just so many questions swirling around our heads about Supernatural Season 14. Many of them we’ve all put out on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Of course, we’re not any closer to getting the answers yet.

But we wouldn’t be dedicated fans if we didn’t ask the burning questions, right? And then it comes to the theorizing because we all want to guess what’s going to happen to our favorite characters. Well, that’s exactly what this post is all about. Let’s delve into the burning questions we have about the 14th season.

14. What happened to Jack?

More from Supernatural

There are lots of questions within this question. Jack’s grace was taken by Lucifer, so he could Level Up in a way. However, now we’re not sure if Jack has lost all his grace or if some was left behind. The writers did a major job of setting up the idea that taking grace didn’t mean depleting all of it at once, unlike previous seasons.

We say Sister Jo, Lucifer, and Gabriel all lose grace and find out that they could replenish it over time. It suggests that this is something that will happen to Jack. He didn’t stop glowing when Lucifer took the grace, after all, which suggests something was left in reserve. Jack was just left temporarily powerless.

However, this isn’t just on a power level. There is going to be a lot happening to him mentally. After trusting Lucifer, he realized his hope was all for nothing. Lucifer was the monster everyone made him out to be and now he’ll feel guilty for hurting people–and for Dean letting Michael in to stop Lucifer once and for all.

13. How will Dean be saved?

Supernatural Season 13 saw Dean finally say yes to Michael, after years of wondering what life could be like with Michael!Dean. We’re finally going to get a chance to see that, but of course, the major question is how Dean will be saved.

More importantly, will we get more of Michael!Dean than we did Deanmon? Demon Dean was hugely underused, but this seems to be taking a step up. It helps that we don’t have a milestone episode four episodes into the season.

There are a few theories about how Michael could be stopped. Some have suggested the Paradise World Michael is broken out of the cage, while I’ve theorized that Baby could be used in the way Baby helped save Samifer. There has also been the suggestion of the egg that was used to trap Lucifer–although that didn’t work because of Crowley. There are many options available, so which will the writers use?

12. Will Christian Keyes return as the vessel?

Christian Keyes has become a firm favorite in the Supernatural fandom. He brought Apocalypse Michael to life in a way we never expected. His introduction is by far one of the best from the whole series. The downside of Dean saying yes to Michael was losing Christian Keyes.

But that doesn’t look like it’s going to be fully the case. The actor took to Twitter to say the vessel wasn’t dead. Supernatural Season 14 has the opportunity of giving us a story of life after angel possession. We’ve only seen this a handful of times, such as through Jimmy Novak and Sam Winchester. However, this was an archangel, so that could change things.

Plus, this vessel comes from a different world. And Michael destroyed everything and everyone. What type of effect would that have on the person who had allowed Michael use him in the first place?

11. Is Asmodeus really dead?

Out of all the deaths in Supernatural Season 13, Asmodeus’ was the most anticlimactic. Because of that, it was a shocking death. Sure, it gave Gabriel the chance to get his first step of revenge, but something just felt off.

Maybe it was because Asmodeus was supposed to be the last Prince of Hell; the big bad that was going to raise the Shedim. These powerful creatures were mentioned once and then Asmodeus was suddenly moving onto his next plan. It was like he didn’t really know what he wanted to do and the whole storyline felt messy.

We don’t ever really believe a death is forever. The 13th season brought back numerous characters, proving that death isn’t the end. With the weird, anticlimactic death of a character that was supposed to be a big bad, does this mean Asmodeus is going to come back in some way? It is possible that we could find him in the Empty and this brings us onto the next question quite nicely.

10. Will we see Gabriel in the Empty?

We just got him back and lost him again. Sure, I’ve not been a big fan of Gabriel, but this was a chance to redeem him; a chance to make me like him. However, that chance went when Gabriel sacrificed himself in vain in the fight against Michael. He knew it was a fight he was never going to win and it did nothing to help Sam and Dean.

What Gabriel’s death does open is another chance to go into the Empty. We got a glimpse of this in the last season when Castiel was there, but now we get a chance to see it again in Supernatural Season 14. This was teased at PaleyFest, so there’s a chance that it will come up again.

What would be interesting is seeing Gabriel and Asmodeus up against each other in the Empty if that’s possible. If not, then Gabriel up against the Cosmic Entity who is pretending to be Asmodeus. Would this bring some flashbacks for the archangel?

9. Is Lucifer really dead?

I wouldn’t be able to finish off the questions of the dead without bringing up Lucifer, right? Supernatural Season 14 could be the first season where Lucifer doesn’t rear his head at all. It’s going to seem odd knowing that he can’t come back.

But is that really the case? Could it be possible that Lucifer makes his way back in some way? Dead doesn’t stay dead in this series. We know that and we’ve mentioned it already!

Lucifer’s death did look final. His wings burned out, suggesting that there’s no way that he can come back. He was also killed by Michael, suggesting that this was final. Plus it wasn’t overly anticlimactic considering it was the finale and the battle against Michael, with both Dean and Sam working together to take the Devil down.

8. Where’s Sister Jo?

Danneel Ackles came into the series as Sister Jo, a businesswoman angel. We got to see an angel with some brains–a strong and independent woman who was making Earth work for her. She made people happy, which is kind of what angels should do, albeit for money. Maybe we can overlook that financial gain part.

When Sister Jo became Lucifer’s First Lady we knew it couldn’t be good. Those two together could have been a formidable pair. Lucifer never did listen to her, which was a grave mistake for him, but what happened to her? The last we saw she’d given up on Lucifer and walked out of the throne room. Is it possible she’s somewhere in the crumbling Heaven (getting to that) or has she returned to Earth to pick up her business?

Just a mention about this will do. Something to let us know if she’s one of the angels still alive.

7. Will Heaven crumble?

Supernatural Season 14’s main storyline looks to be all about Michael!Dean, but what about Heaven? This was a major storyline brought up in one episode and then completely abandoned. Okay, so there were mentions of it in the next couple of episodes, but it was all but dismissed once we ended up out of the Apocalypse World.

If Heaven crumbles, all souls will fall to Earth. There is a plothole in this, but overlooking that, it’s a major problem. All those spirits may become vengeful spirits and who could blame them? They’ll be angry that the angels messed up so much that they became extinct!

There is a way to potentially fix this quickly in Supernatural Season 14. This moves us onto the next question.

6. Is God/Chuck going to take some accountability for anything?

God was barely mentioned in the last season. After not even turning up to give his condolences to a grieving Dean, Chuck made it clear that he doesn’t really care. Sure, he can’t be everywhere, but something just felt off in this case. It’s not like Dean to pray.

However, the Heaven situation really needs him. It’s time for him to get away from that vacation with his sister and start looking at ways to repair the damage his children have caused. He’s the one who can make more angels and help to bring stability to Heaven again.

He needs to be held accountable for something. Surely it’s about time. If Chuck is going to negate on this responsibility, can we get Amara to step in for him, then?

5. Why will Billie see Dean soon?

Throughout Supernatural Season 13, Billie made a point of telling Dean that she’d see him soon. She knows what his books say and knows that he’s going to end up with her at some point. And it was always aimed at him as if he’s got some big role to play in the universe.

It’s like this is linked to Michael in some way. Did Billie know that Dean would be needed to take down Lucifer? Did she always see that this would happen? Maybe there is something bigger at play. She knows that Michael’s possession will lead ot the death of Dean.

The last thing we want is to say goodbye to any of our favorite characters. Losing Dean permanently would mean the end of the show. We know it needs both brothers (and Castiel). But death doesn’t mean the end for Supernatural Season 14, as there could be a way around it. All we do know is Billie knows something.

4. Will Mary and Bobby (Mobby?) get together?

Admit it, you loved seeing Bobby and Mary (Mobby, anyone?) together. It may not have been the most conventional relationship, but there was something about it that worked. Now we want to know if it will go any further.

Without an archangel willing to give up some grace, the Apocalypse World people are stuck in the Paradise World. On top of that, Bobby decided he quite liked it where he was and wanted to stay. This is clearly a way to keep Bobby around for the fans and to give Bobby and Mary a chance to be together.

These are two hunters who are on similar wavelengths. They are hunters at heart and want to keep people safe. Supernatural Season 14 needs to see that relationship grow–and I’d love to see the looks on Dean and Sam’s faces when they find out!

3. Can we see more of Rowena, Charlie, Ketch, and the others?

The 13th season brought so many characters back that it was hard to lose track. Then there were all those extras from the Apocalypse World. Just how much are they going to be utilized when we get into the next season.

Really, it should be all hands on deck to save Dean from Michael at first. Rowena will be needed as the only powerful witch and Ketch will have the skills and knowledge to help track Dean and maybe subdue him. Then there’s Charlie who is a fighter and will want to take down this evil.

We can’t forget that this is Michael from the Apocalypse World. The Apocalypse World people have a grudge against him and will want to make sure he’s gone for good.

2. Will Wayward Sisters‘ story get some closure?

With the new that Wayward Sisters didn’t get picked up by The CW, there are now a lot of questions about the series. Fans want it to be picked up by Netflix, but there’s no budging yet. While many will continue to campaign, there’s only so long we can expect the actresses to stick around for the series.

That brings up the possibility of wrapping the story in Supernatural Season 14. There is always the chance of bringing up Kaya’s storyline in a Wayward special. No, it won’t make all fans happy, but it gives this storyline closure.

However, bringing this closure looks like shutting the door on the project. We don’t want that. It’s a difficult decision to make.

1. When will Supernatural Season 14 air?

I know this is the big question you have. You want to know when Supernatural Season 14 will come back. There isn’t a set date in place just yet, but there is a potential one. It looks like we might get the 14th season on October 11. This matches the release dates of the previous two seasons.

This would work out as a date, too. It’s not too close to Thanksgiving (maybe think about taking Thanksgiving off this year?) to allow for a suitable place to break and it will fit 8-9 episodes in relatively well before Christmas. This would likely set up the same episode run for after Christmas, with likely a month off in March instead of two weeks in February and two weeks in March since there is no Olympics coverage to worry about next year.

The information we do have is that Supernatural Season 14 will definitely air on Thursday nights. It’s keeping it’s 8/7c timeslot. That’s a pain for many of us, but we’ll just have to make it work. Now if only The CW would keep to the schedule and not keep switching it out for sport in select areas!
