Many are hoping Detective Pikachu becomes the new MCU, but will the movie even get a sequel? Here’s what we know!
Detective Pikachu is loved by both critics and fans! It’s certified Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised by fans. Even though the movie did not beat Avengers: Endgame at the box office, Pikachu did extremely well, pulling in just over $58 million domestically.

So, will Detective Pikachu get a movie sequel, or better yet, a franchise? Well, while nothing has been officially announced, meaning there are no news on an upcoming sequel, it’s a safe bet that not only will one movie follow, but that this is in fact the beginning of a new franchise.
As far as the story goes, there is definitely room for more. But let’s face it, even if the movie didn’t conclude on a happy note with hint of more mysteries to be solved by Tim, Harry, and Pikachu, the world of Pokemon is massive! There will always be more stories in the Pokemon Universe. The question is — do people want to see them?
The answer? Of course! Detective Pikachu did tremendously well at the box office, which is all the indication needed to know it has a fan base ready to watch this new universe, and Pikachu is a fan favorite.
In the final moments of Detective Pikachu, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) decided to stay with his dad Harry (Ryan Reynolds) and Pikachu, meaning there are more mysteries for the trio ahead!
