We all know how man-crushes work. The beautiful blue eyes that flash across your Instagram feed. The bare chests. The contagious smiles. Who even fits this description? Well, pretty much every actor (especially the Chrises). But I have gathered you all here on this Man-Cush Monday to talk about Chris Evans and all that he has to offer beyond his classic Captain America good looks. But I’m not here to objectify him, what is this Buzzfeed?
Chris Evans is one of those rare actors who is prolific for his role as the man behind the shield in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even with all the fanfare that follows he keeps his life incredibly private despite his presence on social media.
Early in Evans’ career he was a model for Hasbro’s board game Mystery Date. Since then he’s grown as an actor (but look at this kid!), he’s even expressed a passion for directing more in the future as well as sharing a personal desire here and there. He’s in support of a solo Black Widow movie. He has a theory on Steve Rogers’ virginity. Has admitted to sleeping with a tiny Iron Man doll and has confessed he just has a lot of feelings (me too, Chris, me too). But I’m getting ahead of myself because there’s a whole list of reasons to love Chris Evans!
Let’s jump right into it with some Captain America stuff (and not just because he and I totally had a moment during the marketing campaign for Captain America: Civil War).
1) He Does His Own Stunts
Quite a few of them anyway. He’s really difficult to find a running double for because he runs unnaturally straight so he has to do all his own running.
But he also took gymnastics to make the fight scenes look more seamless and authentic!
But he’d rather you didn’t ask about his exercise regimen to prepare for the part
2) His proportions are inexplicable
A joke which has taken on a life of its own at this point
3) He initially turned down the role!
4) He Has Anxiety And He’s Incredibly Open About It
5) He Gives the Best Advice
And believes in taking risks (like he did for this interview)
And I can’t possibly leave out his thoughts on the present.
6) He Makes Mistakes
7) He’s a Self-Confessed Disney Nerd
For the record if he was a Disney Princess he’d be Belle…
8) He’s A Solid Combination of Sarcastic and Funny
9) He Loves Babies
Even if he doesn’t have any…Yet
10) He Has A Dog
Dodger likes to offer encouragement even during important video challenges for charity! (Also the story of how Chris ended up adopting Dodger is pretty much the sweetest thing ever).
11) Actually speaking of Charity Work
12) He’s Just a True Patriot
(I can’t believe I just typed that)
Look at him in the locker room after the big win though, the reverence!
13) He’s A Total Tom Brady Fanboy
Listen Chris, I don’t want to fight but typing out any kind of affection for Tom Brady physically hurts my New York Giant loving heart and I understand you love him (like he’s your boyfriend the same way I totally don’t tell people you’re my boyfriend) but like I will fight you!
14) But Seriously He Is A Patriot (not the football team this time)
He also stands up for communities like the LGBTQ
15) He Makes These Faces Behind The Scenes
16) He’s Also Crazy Committed
17) He Can Dance
18) He Does This When He’s Sleepy
And then when we were all doing it after he read a bedtime story on the BBC show CBeebies
19) He Laughs Like This
(he’s aware that the internet makes videos like this!)
20) He’s Super Close With His Mom
If you’re in need of more Chris, you can catch him in a quick cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. He is also set to star in director Gideon Raff’s film Red Sea Diving Resort. And he will be making his Broadway debut in March 2018 in Kenneth Lonergan’s Lobby Hero. But for now you can catch Chris Evans in Gifted, which is expected to be released on DVD sometime in summer 2017 and Captain America: Civil War is currently streaming on Netflix.
